Study Skills
Bootcamp for Teenagers
Access to the online toolkit
All participants are given access to the Julie Edwards toolbox for one year. The toolbox provides tips, podcasts, YouTubes, and other resources to help you succeed in your studies.
Learn how to find information
Many high school and university students struggle with where to find information. During the workshop, we look at various strategies to help find useful information to build essays and reports.
give presentations a 'wow' factor
Students are required to give presentations throughout the year, and knowing how to make professional-looking presentations is a skill that is not only useful at school but university and at work. The participants in the 'Bootcamp' learn how to create compelling presentations.
time management
Participants are introduced to various ways to plan their assessments over a term.
Referencing
Knowing how to cite the many sources of information is essential for students. We look at the critical data required to present the citations within assessments and the appropriate software that can make citing the source information, and producing a list of references so much easier.
using word effectively
There are many tools available to students on the laptops that are not used to present assessments. However, once they learn how to use these tools, the presentation of their assessments can quickly go from satisfactory to 'wow' in minutes.

The activities do require the participants to practice and try them out during the workshops. PC or Mac can be used.
Participants will need to have Word and PowerPoint already loaded onto their laptop, as we are using Word software and PowerPoint. I do run separate Mac Pages and Keynote software courses. Please contact me if you would like a workshop that focuses on Mac Pages and Keynote.
