Forrest Gump’s momma said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”, but I think life can be a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, complicated and frustrating. Then suddenly the pieces start falling into place and the picture becomes more apparent.
You can solve the complex puzzle by yourself and, no doubt, get there in the end. However, it’s great when a friend drops by and points out something that you missed, or magically drops that piece into the puzzle.
We also have to get up off the chair, where we sat so comfortably. We need to look at the puzzle from a different perspective, and then we discover how another piece fits into the puzzle.
Finally, the puzzle fits and a clear image appears, and we have time to stand back and admire what has been achieved. And yet, sometimes only a small knock can break the puzzle apart, and what seemed clear is now no longer there. How we handle the knock makes all the difference.
Do we rant and rage and throw the puzzle in the bin, never to be seen again? Do we pick up the pieces and try and put the puzzle back together again? Do we ask for, or take the offered, assistance? Or, do we think it’s time to let the puzzle go and try a new one?
Whichever choice we make an image will eventually appear. It may be the same one we are familiar with, or it could be one which we never even thought of completing. What puzzle will you solve in 2020?
